By the end of 1944 little war damage was reported from the Grand Duchy.

Only the Ardennes offensive in December 1944 caused severe damage, particularly in the north of the country.

The government asked the Allied Forces for help in the reconstruction and agriculture.

This request was accepted in September 1945 and the Grand Duchy got about 5,000 men from the U.S.

The prisoners in the main camp in Mutfort were assigned to different camps in the country.
